Meet The Kids
Adrian
  ADRIAN

Eight-year-old Adrian is a caring child who likes to be helpful to those around him. He is very active and loves playing sports – he especially likes basketball and soccer. Adrian’s favorite color is green.

Adrian has been part of the Tu Nidito family since 2004, when he was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of cancer that occurs in infants and children. Adrian was only two years old at the time of his diagnosis. For the last six years, Adrian and his family have attended Tu Nidito’s support groups for children with serious medical conditions and their families. The activities Adrian does with his family during group are his favorite part of coming to Tu Nidito. They help Adrian process and share his feelings with his family and with other children and families who face similar struggles. Tu Nidito’s support groups for children with serious medical conditions and their families help Adrian, his parents, and his brother through the difficulty and stress of changes in prognosis and course of treatment.

Giovanna

GIOVANNA

Four-year-old Giovanna is an intelligent and precocious social butterfly. She likes to sing, dance, and draw. Giovanna loves to read the Fancy Nancy books and likes playing with her Little People toys and playset. Giovanna has a favorite color, but it changes every day.

Giovanna has been coming to Tu Nidito since her daddy passed away last year. She loves all the activities she does at Tu Nidito, but her favorite is Memory Beads. Memory Beads help Giovanna document and honor her journey through grief, one bead at a time. Since Giovanna is an only child and has no siblings to share her experience with, Children to Children has been important in providing the opportunity to meet others who understand her journey. Tu Nidito’s Children to Children program provides a safe, comfortable environment for children like Giovanna to process their grief and heal.
