Print Instructions (.pdf form)

Step 1 – REGISTER

Register to Ride for a Child with Perimeter Bicycling Association of America (the wonderful people who put on El Tour de Tucson).
You can register:

Click on University Medical Center 26th El Tour de Tucson presented by Diamond Ventures and then Register Online for El Tour 2008

Whether your register online or with a printed form choose the Ride for a Child option.

It looks like this:

__NEW! RIDE FOR A CHILD. I will earn FREE ENTRY (paid by Tu Nidito) and ride for a special child named by Tu Nidito by collecting $500 or more in contributions. I will also pay Perimeter Bicycling a processing fee (see box). I will receive a unique Tu Nidito cycling jersey (instead of Prize Certificates), as well as entry, event benefits, and El Tour Poster.

Step 2 – YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED A CHILD TO RIDE FOR

Once you have registered to Ride for a Child, you will receive a packet containing:

  • Your child’s name, story and photo
  • A customized Contribution Request Form to help you raise money. This form contains your child’s name, photo and story, a request for support, a link to donate online and instructions to mail in contributions. The form can be sent to your contacts via email or printed and mailed.

It can take up to 2 weeks from the time of registration to receive your information packet. If you want to speed things up, email Ciara at Ciara@tunidito.org and tell her you have registered to Ride for a Child.

Step 3 – SET YOUR FUNDRAISING GOAL
When you Ride for a Child, you pledge to raise a minimum of $500 in contributions. However, you can set your personal fundraising goal at any amount ($500 and above).

  • Raise $1000 or more and receive a special ‘El Tour Conquistador,’ a hand-made, 16” metal bicycle sculpture designed by Toni Sodersten from Bisbee, AZ.
  • The highest El Tour money raiser will receive a Treasure Chest filled with thousands of dollars in cycling and wellness prizes.

Step 4 – BEGIN RAISING MONEY FOR Tu Nidito

Contributors need to include your name when making their donations.

Step 5 – TRACK YOUR DONATIONS
We will track your donations and send you email updates.

STEP 6 – RECEIVE YOUR JERSEY

STEP 7 – RIDE FOR A CHILD!
Ride the University Medical Center 26th El Tour de Tucson presented by Diamond Ventures on Saturday, November 22nd 2008 and know that …
Each moment you give
Each mile you ride
Every hill you climb
Every wash you cross
… is for a child

Questions?

I already registered for El Tour. Can I change to the Ride for a Child program?
Yes! Simply contact Perimeter Bicycling Association of America and tell them you want to change your registration and Ride for a Child.
If you have already paid the $60 registration fee, this money can not be refunded. However, you can deduct that amount from your fundraising goal. (Instead of raising $500 you will raise a minimum of $440.)

Do I have to pay the $500 when I register?
No, we believe in your commitment to raise the contributions. The only amount you must pay when you register is the Processing Fee assessed by Perimeter Bicycling Association of America.  However, you have the option to pay $500 (or any amount of the contributions) at the time you register.
PROCESSING FEE TABLE
If registering Tuesday, Jan. 1 thru Sunday, Aug. 31 pay $10 processing fee
If registering Monday, Sept. 1 thru Sunday, Oct. 26 pay $15 processing fee

Do I have to pay the processing fee?
Yes, the processing fee must be paid when you register. However at your request, that amount can be refunded to you once you have met your fundraising goal OR you can deduct that from your contribution goal. Please note that El Tour’s processing fee increases the closer we get to El Tour. We recommend you register early and save.

I need help! How do I raise $500?
Your customized Contribution Request Form is designed to do most of the work for you. Send it to your contacts (friends, family, business associates, and corporate sponsors) and ask them to help. Most people are happy to contribute but they need to be asked.

What if I don’t raise the $500 before El Tour?
If you are having a difficult time raising the $500 in contributions, give us a call. We are here to help you and have suggestions on how you can raise your contributions.
If you still are unable to raise the $500, you can change to one of the other El Tour registration options. You may need to pay the $60 registration fee at this time. Your contributions will still come to Tu Nidito and make a difference in the lives of our children.
