Memory Beads are designed to document and honor the journey through grief we take when a loved one dies. Memory Beads are a physical expression of the emotions we experience and the significant events we face without our loved one. Through Memory Beads we acknowledge the lasting memory of our loved one.
How does the bead program work?
Children and adults who are enrolled in Tu Nidito's Grief Support program are given a length of cord strung with the beads that spell out their loved one's name. These beads, along with the following three special beads, begin the Memory Beads necklace: • Tu Nidito Memory Bead –This bead is a symbol of the Memory Bead activity and the comfort, hope and support the participant finds at Tu Nidito. • Finding the Light Bead – When we are grieving it can be difficult to see beyond the darkness. This bead is a gentle reminder that each of us has the ability to process our grief and find the light once again. • Love Never Ends Bead – This bead symbolizes that even though our loved one is no longer with us, the love we share is still present. Beads, each representing a significant event or emotion experienced throughout the grief process, are then strung in their sequence of occurrence. The Memory Beads necklace becomes a meaningful chain that tells the story of our journey through grief. How do I enroll?
