Volunteers are the heart
and backbone of Tu Nidito
Children and Family Services;
in fact we could not provide
the level of support to seriously
ill children and those grieving
the death of a loved one
without the support of volunteers.
Volunteers are students, parents, grandparents, therapists, realtors, business
owners, clergy, retirees, hospital employees, servers, hospice employees, court
reporters, funeral directors, teachers, school counselors, nurses, state employees,
university employees, massage therapists, etc. Volunteers come from all walks
of life but the one thing they all have in common… they come to Tu Nidito to
make a difference in the life of a seriously ill or grieving child.
Volunteers attend comprehensive training, which equips them with the
tools needed to assist our children and families. Upon completion of training,
volunteers serve as facilitators in our support groups, work one-on-one as friends,
playmates, mentors and tutors with seriously ill children or their siblings,
provide support to the caregivers of seriously ill children, take children on
outings and assist with family camp and social events.
