Color Your Grief

September 28, 2016

This is an activity that can be done with children of all ages that are dealing with grief related to a serious illness or death.

Supplies Needed:

12” Ceramic Tile
Different color sharpies
Rubbing Alcohol

Tile Activity:

Step One:
Assign each color an emotion. For example red is angry, pink is frustrating and green is happy.

Step Two:
Using all the colors, color the entire tile.

Step Three:
Fill dropper with rubbing alcohol and slowly put droplets onto the tile. Carefully lift tile and allow the liquid to move across the tile, blending the colors. Notice how the colors mix together in a beautiful way. Talk with the grieving child about how grief has lots of emotions that go along with it and that often these emotions will overlap each other.
